One Fine Tapestry. As Gerard & Diane Barros have been performing at various venues for nearly 15 years, their concept of a Carole King tribute developed organically, and came to fruition in 2011.
Gerard & Diane’s extensive repertoire included numerous pop chart-toppers from the 1960s and 1970s. While rehearsing or performing this music live, the duo noticed that so much of this material was actually written or co-written by Carole King. These songs were often in Gerard & Diane’s set lists, in addition to the many of Carole’s huge 70s solo classics which Diane also sang in their performances,
Since Carole King was renowned as a hit-making composer long before she became a multi-million-selling recording and performing artist, Gerard & Diane decided that there was only one way to form a tribute to such a legend. They created “One Fine Tapestry,” which is an abstract, 2-fold tribute. Not only does Diane channel Carole’s numerous solo hits, such as “It’s Too Late,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” and “Sweet Seasons,” but the One Fine Tapestry band also shares vocals on many of the chart toppers Carole wrote for other artists, and performs them in the style of those musicians. These hits were made by the Drifters, Beatles, Shirelles, Monkees, Everly Brothers, James Taylor and many more. Even the name “One Fine Tapestry” is a hybrid of the Chiffons hit “One Fine Day” and the name of Carole’s multi-selling, Grammy winning “Tapestry” album.
